Advanced Golf Training Continues at AHPGA
By Tony | March 6, 2008
In the ninth part of the series we look at week 6 of Stuart’s training program(Stuart`s final of his six weeks of Advanced Golf Training at the Australian High Performance Golf Academy). For other parts of the series see the links under the “Categories” Menu
Stuart has resumed his Advanced Golf Training this week after taking last week off to do some sightseeing around Tasmania, Melbourne and Sydney. While in Tasmania Stuart played in the Tasmanian Golf Open where he succeeded in making the half way cut with rounds of 71,74. On the weekend the weather conditions turned nasty with strong winds ( Stuart told me that he had never played in such strong winds) and rain and Stuart finished with golf scores of 79 and 80.
This week Stuart is continuing on with his improvement plan on simplifying his golf swing plane and golf swing path using the `golfermatic`(see photo below) and his lower body pivot and overall dynamic balance. Stuart has improved his golf swing plane, golf swing path and overall balance of motion considerably over the past 5 weeks resulting in a more consistent ball flight and improved distance and directional control.

In the photo below you see Stuart working on the chipping ladder drill. In this exercise Stuart must land 3 balls consecutively in the first step before moving onto the next step. If he should miss a shot he must start on the first step again. By introducing some`on course` competitive intensity into our students daily training, this is great for their confidence and their self belief to be able to eventually execute the required shot in competition. We always want our golf students to practice the way they intend to play.

As previously mentioned this is Stuart`s sixth and final week of golf training at AHPGA. Tomorrow I am looking forward to sitting down with Stuart and reviewing his six weeks of advanced golf training at AHPGA and for his thoughts and feedback. I will keep you all posted……
