    “Stop and Go” Golf Instruction

    By admin | October 1, 2007

high performance golf instructionIs having a one hour lesson each week / month, really the best way for any golfer to learn how to shoot golf scores in the seventies?

It’s slow and monotonous. Golf students loose interest, and the drop out rate is high. In other words, most golfers just won’t take enough golf lessons for long enough to gain the benefits of this “stop and go” method of golf instruction.

Think about it: if you have a one hour golf lesson on a reasonably consistent basis and combine it with a little practice, what sort of improvement could you expect to see?

How long would it take you to consistently shoot scores in the seventies? One month? Or three months? Twelve months maybe - or longer, who knows?

For the majority of golfers it’s a complete waste of time

It’s a long way from being the best system to learn how to shoot lower golf scores. For the majority of golfers it’s a complete waste of time! Now I know that is going to get a lot of my professional colleagues off side but I’m sorry it’s the sad truth.

Anyway, I can live with it because to be honest it’s about time someone offered ambitious and determined golfers more than just a one hour golf lesson, or if you can believe it, even thirty minutes a week.

Oh, and let’s not forget the financial investment. Most golf teachers charge upwards of one hundred dollars per hour for a private golf lesson. So if you were having a lesson every week from your golf teacher for the next three years you wouldn’t get much change out of fifteen thousand dollars.

And after three years and about one hundred and fifty hours of one hour lessons, and some practice, what would you expect to see for your results?

Well, many golfers still can’t shoot scores lower than eighty. Seems a little expensive to me not be able to score better than eight over par, don’t you think?
