A Golf School That Improves Golfers

In part six of the series, I sat down with Stuart on Monday to get some feedback on his first three weeks of golf instruction and training with us here at the Australian High Performance Golf Academy (AHPGA). (Stuart is training with us for six weeks in total) – more of series here

This is what Stuart had to say:

After three weeks I have been able to see steady improvement in all aspects of my game. Especially with my chipping and shot shaping.

Before coming to the AHPGA, I relied on my driver and putter mostly to shoot good scores.

After only three weeks at the golf academy, I have learned numerous chips and pitches that are simply modifications of what I had already learned.

I thought I was going to have to really modify my technique to achieve results, however with Tony’s approach of working on technique only about a third of the time and constant testing, (even when I may not be comfortable with the technique) has forced me to produce results.

Now when I step up to a chip, instead of just trying to get it within 3 ft or so, I’m trying make it!”

“Tony has taught me to be more creative with my shots and that it doesn’t matter how it looks, as long as you get it done, you’ll be in business.

In the USA I hit the golf ball straight and with a fairly high ball flight. We have been working on hitting all 9 ball flights (low fade, low straight, low draw, high fade, high straight, high draw and standard flight fade, straight and draw) and taking them to the course with great results.

I can now shape the golf ball comfortably and play a variety of shots that I know will help me produce lower scores down the road. I am not playing my best golf right now and that’s ok with me.

I know when I get back to the USA, what I have learned will pay off in the long run. Here at the AHPGA it’s about taking small steps forward every day and getting something positive out of every session.

I have had some experience with players who are attending other golf schools in the area. What those golf schools do compared to what goes on at the Australian High Performance Golf Academy doesn’t compare.

Tony and I work 7 hours a day one on one. Other golf academies right now have about a 6 or 8 to 1 ratio and the kids seem dissapointed in their programs.

I am so glad that I chose the AHPGA, I wish I could stay longer. One of their best qualities is that they are realistic.

With constant work, testing and playing you will get better. I will be back in the future and I will bring my friends. This golf school really does produce results!
